Name: Fredrik Sekander
Location: Gothenburg
Title: Import Forwarder
Working at Hecksher since: 2014
Describe yourself in three words: Efficient, Curious, Helpful.
How would you describe your role?
My role involves daily contact with customers and planning their shipments. I arrange shipments, including rate inquiries, booking, customs clearance, delivery, closing the job, and more. Additionally, I set up and improve customs and operational systems to streamline our daily work.
What is the most exciting part of your job?
The most exciting part of my job is successfully resolving a challenging issue and, at the same time, exceeding my customer's expectations.
How would you describe the culture at Hecksher?
At Hecksher, we have a collaborative culture with a high level of transparency between teams. We are always willing to discuss issues and help each other. Every day feels like a team-building experience.
Do you have any tips to customers planning their transportation?
My main tip would be to explore all available options regarding shipment terms. For example, using pre-paid terms for consolidated cargo from the Far East can often result in unforeseen costs if not planned correctly. I would advise customers to consult with a freight forwarder if there are any uncertainties or simply for guidance. Another tip would be to migrate as much as possible to one forwarder who can assist you with the whole logistic chain. Involving multiple parties often leads to increased costs.
What does customer focus mean to you and how do you apply it in your daily work?
To me, customer focus means prioritizing the needs of the customers and striving to understand and meet all their expectations. By doing this, we can build trust and establish good relationships. In my daily work, I always put the customers' needs first and make sure to go the extra mile to ensure their satisfaction.
Any tips for others that would like to join the Hecksher team?
My advice would be to stay positive, strive for improvement, and collaborate closely with your team members.
